Antique Perkins Marine Brass Bow/Mast Lantern Lamp Torpedo Boat Destroyer Elec.

Description

One of Perkins earliest pre-"Perko" offerings (see nameplate), this awesome brass lantern stands about 17" tall excluding the bail. This thing was totally handcrafted, and seems to have had repairs to a few small cracks through the years. It's been electrified and even with a little 40w (incandescent) chandelier bulb, throws a relatively intense beam toward the horizon over about 230 degrees. Fresnel lens is intact too. I don't think the finial is original, most pictures of similar Perkins lamps have only a button/bolthead or small vent there.
Confirmed, this version is rather "rare", having been
made for torpedo boats and destroyers Circa WWI. See last image (68a) from their 1920 catalog.
