Vintage “JUNK LIGHT” Nautical Oil Lantern, Marked "Great Britain", Numbered, Dated 1968.
I know nothing about this type of lantern … other than it's nautical.
Overall height of 14.5-inches (including wooden bale-type handle)
Actual compartment that holds the oil, wick, and globe is 8.5-inches tall by 5.5-inches wide…
Slide-wire closure of lantern is tight and a little hard to manipulate … but it does function …
Globe, wick, and oil reservoir slide out on a little track. ( see photo)
Heavy wire grid-work protects the glass panels from breakage. On the left side … one wire is missing ( see photo) I almost did not notice it as it does not detract from the beauty of the piece…
Dated: 3/08/1966 , Number 334 (see photo of metal label)
Weighs in the vicinity of 10 lbs.
